The Virginia General Assembly must address this situation, both from the human costs and the money lost that is spent on training.
One problem is that troopers are required to live in the county where they are assigned. Here and in Fauquier, their pay scale is not in line with the cost of living, especially housing costs.
As private citizens, we can show our support of these underpaid men and women when they come into our community by giving them a break on housing. It’s the least we can do.
