Major Willis said that he was “not objecting to Reinhardt” and clarified that, if he himself were away, a vice mayor would need to be available at any hour to respond to the needs of town residents.
Mayor Willis then nominated Jeff Benson, but that nomination was not seconded.
Speaking during the public forum later in the meeting, town resident Ray Gooch said that a second did not necessarily mean that the nominator would vote for the candidate, but that it would have been good form if Mr. Benson’s nomination had been seconded.
