Republican Senator Mark Obenshain, who represents Rappahannock County, has filed a bill that could bring more severe sentences for methamphetamine trafficking as the deadly stimulant moves to the forefront of Virginia’s illicit drug trade.
Obenshain said in an interview yesterday that methamphetamine trafficking has made “western Virginia the meth capital of the East Coast,” becoming a scourge of the towns and hamlets along Interstate 81.
