These outings are to include a Pioneering Camporee on the Shenandoah River, a backpacking trip to False Cape State Park, Summer Camp, and a whitewater rafting trip, perhaps to the New River in West Virginia.
The Boy Scout advancement program encourages Scouts to pursue their own interests by offering a total of 120 different merit badges on subjects ranging from American Business to Wood Carving. Troop 36 Scouts were presented with 19 merit badges including the Art, Athletics, Citizenship in the Nation, Cooking, Emergency Preparedness, First Aid, Mammal Study, Metalworking, Pottery, Rifle Shooting, Swimming, Wilderness Survival and Woodworking subiects.
