Septic of Marshall to prevent the county from contracting with Chantilly Express, an Amissville firm, for leachate collection and transportation. The Marshall firm had sought an injunction to prevent the contract from going into effect, claiming that the county did not follow its own guidelines in awarding the contract to Chantilly, which was not licensed to haul leachate. At the Drug Abuse Resistance (DARE) graduation for fifth graders held at the elementary school last Wednesday, Capt. Jeff Brown of the Sheriff's Department had essay winners read their essays on why they should avoid drugs. The three winners were Jimmy Waters, from Mrs. Jenkins class, Josh Demarr from Mrs. Foster’s class and Cara Levick from Miss Saxton’s class. Weekly winter practices led by guest speakers, Dr. Helen Poland , Sally Cunningham and Dick Bickle and hours of study paid off for the members of the Old Rag Mountain Pony Club. When they traveled to Northern Virginia to compete in the regional “knowdown” earlier this month, they came away with many recognitions. In the Junior D section III Anna Kreyling, Melissa Bly, Alexie Van Buren and Elsina Thornhill won first place. A team of Ashley Corbin, Dana Caldwell, Alice Gentry and Laura Kreyling won fifth place in the Junior D section.
