The soil sampling is an early step in a $1.5 million to $2 million project to handle the town’s wastewater.
WW was recommended by Environmental System Services, (ESS), Ltd. of Culpeper and Don Hearl, who has been the city’s adviser on the water project.
The council also presented to Mitzie Young, widow of the late Dr.William H. Young, Jr. a formal plaque commending his many kindnesses and support for the town and county.
“Dr. William H. Young, Jr. was a source of inspiration and creative energy for the community of Rappahannock County in the varied fields of environmental protection, mental health, education and mentoring,” the citation read in part.
It commended his “generosity and support” that made possible the purchase of the Presbyterian Church now serving as Tbwn Hall.
