hard roles and delivered fine performances. Glen Swain, played the grand inquisitor sent to Salem to rfestore order, Deputy Governor Danforth. Dressed in a long black coat and a long white wig, Swain provides a suitable air of menace as Danforth, uttering his sardonic remarks with a sneering upper class accent. Chris Ehrhart portrayed Reverend Parris, the unpopular minister who was more concerned about his income and having golden candlesticks adorn his altar, than in ministering to his congregation.
The final seniors in this talented cast, include Leslie Taubenberger and Lara Kreyling. Taubenberger was double cast as the concerned Mrs. Ann Putnam and astute Mr. Cheevers - and played each role with finesse. Kreyling made her dramatic debut as one of the girls that become hysterical.
Devin Sherwood, a ninth grader, handles the complex character change of Reverend Hale, who has also been sent to root out the Devil in Salem, with skill.
Devin Day, as Rebecca Nurse, provides the moral counterweight to all those who would confess and condemn others to save themselves. In a performance at once grave and understated, she steadfastly refuses to confess.
lb allude to Shakespeare, the play is the thing wherein well catch the conscience of a community, and this splendid cast of actors surely did that.
