Rappahannock
students win at regional science fair

Students from Rappahannock County Elementary and High Schools attended the 24th Annual Piedmont Regional Science Fair held at the Omni Hotel in Charlottesville on March 14. 16 Middle Schools and 7 High Schools participated. Participants set up display boards and were interviewed extensively by judges. Displays were open to the public between 3:00 and 5:30.
The following students won awards in the Junior division: Megan Wheatley won honorable mention in Physics, Henry Miller won honorable mention in Botany, Chris Garcia won honorable mention in Environmental Science, Brittany Clatterbuck won third place in Zoology, Sarah Wheatley won first place in Earth Science, Bob Moxley Honorary Award, The Discovery Channel Young Scientists Award (eligible to compete in the National Fair), Bennett Eastham won first place in Medicine and Health, Bob Moxley Honorary Award, The Discovery Channel Young Scientists Award (eligible to compete in the National Fair), Austin Burnett won first place in Mathematics, Bob Moxley Honorary Award, The Discovery Channel Young Scientist Award (eligible to compete in the National Fair)
The following students won awards in the Senior division: Matt Lawrey won honorable mention in Botany, Meagan Smith won Honorable Mention in Botany, Christina Naramore won second place in Medicine and Health (eligible to participate in the Virginia State Science and Engineering Fair), Billy Rechin won second place in Microbiology (eligible to participate in the Virginia State Science and Engineering Fair)
