The Fauquier County Department of Community Development is seeking qualified applicants for a full time building inspector position. This position will perform inspections of buildings and related systems in compliance with applicable buiding codes to ensure the health, safety and welfare of the public.
Qualified applicants must possess the knowledge and ability to perform building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing inspections and to investigate residential, commercial, and industrial construction for compliance with applicable state building codes and life safety practices. Preferred applicants should posses three years of experience in general construction, graduation from high school or any equivalent combination of education and experience. State of Virginia certification as a Combination Inspector, General Building, Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing Inspector is preferred and will be required within three years of employment. Starting salary is $27,295 to $34,120 with excellent fringe benefits.
