Paraphrasing one of Elaine’s lines from Seinfeld, rainy days, what are they good for? Turns out, even if they were good for nothing, that might still be a good thing. We have somehow got ourselves so busy with so much that it seems we have to do, that there doesn’t seem to be time to slow down and reflect on our place here in the cosmos, or read, or write, or, for shame, just take a nap.
And some of these chores we do, we attach such importance to them, when, in fact, they are not all that earth shattering. Reminds me of that line about self importance, where mam says to the universe, “Sir, I exist.” And the universe replied, “That, sir, creates in me no sense of obligation.” -
Found myself the other day without a plan of activities, and before the day was out, had sharpened two chain saws, and cut a cord and half of firewood. Which now assures me of another two or three days’ work, of getting it hauled and split and stacked, and all this with a back that complains if I bend down the wrong way to tie my shoes.
