The Remington Community Partnership, the Southern Fauquier Historical Society, Citizens for Fauquier County and PEC’s Rappahannock River Fund have also contributed to the purchase of the battlefield land. With this grant, PEC now has more than half of the funding necessary for this project committed or in hand.
The proposal for this new County park was one of two grants that PEC won in this round of VLCF funding. PEC was also awarded $300,000 toward the purchase of a conversation easement on a 300-acre historic working farm in Rappahannock County.
