and English teacher in Fairfax County before moving to Sperryvillle, where he was employed by The Food Lion Corporation. Throughout his life he was active in the church, singing in the choir and serving in various leadership positions.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice Gordon Herndon and Jane Beale Herndon, of Sperryville.
Mr. Herndon is survived by his three daughters: Catherine Elizabeth Herndon, Diane Lynne Hemdon-Wilson, and Lisa Marie Herndon Broyhill, all of Leesburg, Va.
Additionalsurvivors include a brother, Beale Herndon of Frederick, MD., and three grandsons.
Funeral services were held Dec. 28, at Clore-English Funeral Home Chapel, 11190 James Monroe Highway, Culpeper, with Rev. Jennings W. Hobson, ITT officiating. Interment followed in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Cemetery, Woodville.
