William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night comes to the Theatre at Washington, Virginia, for two performances: Saturday, September 16 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, September 17 at 4 p.m.
The production is directed and acted by a student dramatic group from Cambridge University in England. For the past several years the Cambridge American Stage Tour (CAST) has brought to the Theatre one of Shakespeare’s plays on tour in the U.S. CAST’s productions of Much Ado About Nothing and As You Like it at the Theatre in the last two years were both outstanding.
Many of England’s finest actors, such as Oscar winner Emma Thompson and John Cleese of Monty Python fame, began their careers in student theatrical productions while at Cambridge and Oxford.
CAST’s production of Twelfth Night is traditional Shakespeare - with lavish Elizabethan costumes, and live acoustic music.
The play has several features typical of Elizabethan comedy: twins, mistaken identity, thwarted love, mischief, and a punning clown, yet it remains timeless and it is as
