SENIOR PUBLIC WORKS ENGINEER

The Department of General Services is seeking qualified applicants to fill this engineer position within the Public Works Division. Successful candidate will plan, organize & manage Complex public works sewer and water programs, identify proposed communal systems; ensure proposed systems meet LCSA Service criteria; work with the Health department and other County agencies to identify failing water and sewer systems; work with County Administration to determine preferred courses of action; and prepare and deliver presentations to the Public Safety Committee and Board of Supervisors. This position will also assist LCSA and others in developing pre-design programs; develop short and long term emergency public works utility recovery plans; and develop plans for adequate utility personnel coverage during extended emergencies. Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field and at least 3 yrs of directly related experience; prefer some (6 mosj experience in Emergency management activities. Engineer in Training or Professional Engineer Certification desirable. Some supervisory experience preferred. Valid driver's license. Must be available beyond normal work de,y as required to attend occasional evening meetings with citizens, Board of Supervisors, etc. Must be available when required to respond to County emergencies. Must be able to inspect existing facilities and active construction projects.
