Street shooting in Washington Rannie Cleveland Fincham of Washington, Va. is in critical condition in the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville with gunshot wounds sustained Sunday night. Charged with the felonious shooting of Fincham is Carl Smoot, also of Washington. He has been released from Rappahannock County Jail on $10,000 bond. The shooting occurred around 9:00 p.m. in front of Merrill Motor Company in Washington. The victim was struck in the head by a bullet fired from a 22 magnum rifle. He was taken to Warren Memorial Hospital, Front Royal by Rappahannock Rescue Squad, then transferred to the University hospital where he underwent seven hours of surgery.
