My Mom was bom to Franklin and Frances Atwood in Page County, VA. where she was raised. She graduated from Luray High School. My father, Charles William Jenkins is from Rappahannock County. When he was a young man he used to drive to Luray on the weekends. Knowing my Dad, it was probably because he wanted to race his car over the mountain. During one of his trips to Luray he met a beautiful lady, Roberta Estelle Atwood. They married in 1959 and as I understand, they were married for several months before they ever told anyone, each living at home working to save enough money to buy furniture and take up housekeeping.
