Beloved band
director to leave

Beloved Rappahannock high school band director Matt Yonkey will be leaving after the spring semester. Beginning next fall he will be teaching band at the brand new Kittle Run High School in Warrenton.
Yonkey, who is in his fourth year at Rappahannock County High School, said he applied for the position in early December and was formally offered the job later that month.
The Rappahannock County School Board last Tuesday approved his resignation effective .June 30.
“I love this place," he said. “I’ll never forget it."
Yonkey, 2H, and his wife of a year and a half, Chnssy, who teaches at Rappahannock County Elementary School, hope to settle down and start a family. They had been looking to purchase a home in Rappahannock, Yonkey said, but had trouble finding something in their price range.
"It's just unfortunate that mv wife and I are teachers and we can’t afford to live here," he said.
