possession
William Robert Halko, of Huntly, was sentenced Tuesday in District Court to 20 days in jail and fined $150 for his second offense tor possession of marijuana.
43 over the limit
Vincent Leroy Ryan, of Orlean, was sentenced Tuesday in District Court to spend a weekend in jail for reckless driving in U.S. 211. Ryan was clocked at 98 miles per hour on Nov. 18 in the 55mile-per-hour zone.
The 18-year-old told Judge Charles B. Foley that he did not realize how fast he was traveling. Ryan said he was trying to catch up to another driver who had thrown a bottle at his truck. He planned to record the other car’s license plate number if he caught up to it.
Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke said no one else, including the deputy who stopped Ryan, saw the car irom which the bottle allegedly had been thrown. Luke also said that if the other car actually was there, Ryan should have been able to see its license plate right away.
Ryan was also fined $250 and had his drivers license suspended for 60 days.
