So much has happened in Sperryville this year in our village life. We celebrated the birthdays of those wonderful grandmothers like Lee Anna Whorton and Thelma Jenkins, who are so important in the lives of their grandchildren. A group of volunteers removed a huge rusting metal hulk from the Thornton River. Leobardo Reyes and his talented crew built a beautiful stone wall along the river and RappFLOW created a model riparian buffer project and a rain garden behind the SchoolHouse. Housing renovation and restoration continues to improve the village. The Living Towns meeting held at The SchoolHouse has launched a county-wide effort to improve broadband services and provided some of the impetus for a grant application for development of a county website for tourism. The SchoolHouse has undergone a metamorphosis and is now home to RappLink, a community center for grassroots programs and for shared office space for five non-profit organizations.
