Jan. 19: RappCats meeting
RappCats. the new group working to help Rappahannock's homeless cats, will hold its first annual organization meeting at the library on Saturday. January 19 at 10:00 a.m. Initiated in June. 2007, RappCats has made considerable strides in establishing itself as a community-wide organization. Anybody who has an interest in what we re doing is welcome to come to the meeting. Cat ownership or willingness to adopt a cat is not a requirement. Meeting attendees will review RappCats' accomplishments in 2007. help set pnorities for 2008 and elect a new Board of Directors. If you are inclined to greater self-sufficiency or want to extend your vegetable produce beyond what is considered the normal season, learn how-to reliably in this 3 1/2 hour workshop. We’ll examine winter greens in an unheated hoop house; learn the basics of siting; matenals; inner garden bed construction; cultivation requirements; plant selection; timing and more. Using cold frames and row covers in the outdoor aarden to prolong the garden season will be included, as well as other pertinent topics: phenomenology: permaculture; the "seasons" of the hoop house garden and beneficial insects. All informed from 10 years + expenence of growing (and eating') in winter, within our local micro-climactic conditions and the seasonal weather vanables.
