Paul Thompson
Family in Rappahannock
A. Paul Thompson of Fork Union, Va., passed away at Martha Jefferson Hospital on Friday, Dec. 28, at the age of 86.
Mr. Thompson was bom on a farm near Russellville, Missouri, in 1921.
He was very proud of his academic accomplishments, a BA. from William Jewel College, a Master’s Degree from the University of Virginia, and a degree in theology from Crozer Theological Seminary.
After graduating from seminary, he took his first church in Rappahannock County where he met and married his wife Ann. In 1956, he moved to Fork Union, Virginia. During his career at Fork Union Military Academy, he taught English, served as Director of Guidance, and finally was the curator of its museum at the time of his death.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his daughter, Ann-Rodes Savage, and husband, Clayton of Charlottesville, one brother and a sister in Missouri, and one grandson, and many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
His family wishes to express his love and thanks to his caregiver, Jacqueline Wiley, of Bremo Bluff, who allowed both Paul and Ann to live independently for so many years.
A graveside service was held on Wednesday, Jan. 2, at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Woodville, VA
