unteers, and others from the community that have been a special blessing to the Rappahannock Seniors in one way or another. President of the The Lion’s Club Larry Grove and fellow Lion Bob Anderson made a formal presentation of their generous donation of $700 to the Senior Center.
Along with a heavenly host of hors d’oeuvres and a punch fountain, a crew of volunteers arrived to help serve lunch. A honey-glazed ham was accompanied by homemade au gratin potatoes ala Denise Chandler, Edith Bridget’s green beans and a specially created jello salad by the girl scouts in Amissville. According to Darcy Canton, “it was scrumptious!”
No good meal is complete without some background music and for this occasion it was provided by John Tole and Ann Howard of “Evergreen Shade” who played and sang beautiful tunes throughout much of the event.
After lunch a fun rendition of the Twelve Days of Christmas was played with each table representing one of the days by action and sound. And the fun didn’t stop there with door prizes, dessert, and gift giving rounding out another successful senior celebration. Canton expressed thanks to the fabulous volunteers - before, during, and after - that make this day so delightful for everyone involved each year.
