Hospice care is a team approach to care for terminally ill patients' and provide support for their family members. The team includes registered nurses, a medical director, medical social workers, certified nursing assistants, a chaplain and grief care support along with volunteers.

The new volunteers were trained in all aspects of hospice care including compassionate listening and emotional needs of patients and families, how to provide respite care, and the spiritual needs of patients.

Despite the serious nature of the material, class members enjoyed the camaraderie of the group and formed friendships along the way.
