County Attorney Luke asked for authority to prosecute Hillsdale Country Store, an establishment that he said had not filed returns for the last two years. Luke cited five other businesses - including unnamed bed and breakfasts and food establishments - that had been late or had not filed, but which eventually made payment arrangements with the county.
There are currently 28 establishments in the county that must pay food, beverage, and lodging taxes. They range from small groceries who sell pizza and deli sandwiches to restaurants and bed and breakfasts.
