There are also a number of smaller projects that involve “mini-grants” to teachers to augment what they are doing in class.
Reach Out and Read is another program which encourages young parents to read to their pre-school children.
Egger said she intends to run challenging programs and to grow them, “looking for new opportunities to serve students and teachers.”
She said budget cuts are affecting everyone, but that it is still important that teachers’ and students’ voices are heard.
In September, Headwaters will hold its annual Taste of Rappahannock fundraiser which is its single largest source of revenue.
