Just before The Rappahannock
News announced in the paper that the annual “Clean-Up of Rappahannock County” was to begin, I noticed a lady on Richmond Road (Route 729), which I travel frequently, cleaning the roadsides between Laurel Mills Road and Ben Venue.
She was out there every day b> herself for at least a week or more. On one afternoon, without any traffic behind me, I stopped my car and expressed my appreciation for her civic mindfulness anc that a neighbor and I would continue the clean-up where she had stopped. I do not know her name but she deserves kudos for all of her work.
My neighbor and I did begin cleaning the roadsides in a day or two after obtaining from VDOT the familiar orange bags for the trash. The debris was mostly beer cans/bottles and “fast-food” containers that were thrown from windows of vehicles and construction materials such as styrofoam packing and pieces of insulation, etc. blown from pick-up trucks.
