I am writing this letter in

response to an article in the April 2 edition of the Rappahannock News about the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life.

I personally know that money raised does come back to the community. People may not be aware of all that is being done to help those in need because of confidentiality of patients. I personally know people who have received pain medication, Ensure and other services provided by the American Cancer Society.

With my initial diagnosis in 1990, I took Tamoxifen. The American Cancer Society funded research for this drug. After my recurrence in 2003, I took another drug funded by ACS, Taxol. I
