Elizabeth Vaden Whetzel
Teacher Elizabeth Vaden Whetzel, 87, of Washington, Va., died March 27, 2009, at her home. She was born Nov. 5, 1921, in Lynchburg, Va., to the late Harold E. and Virginia Lee Foster Vaden. Mrs. Whetzel retired as a school teacher in Montgomery County, Md. -
Surviving are two daughters, Phyllis G. Poore of Washington, Va., and Anna L. Garzione of Delaware, Md.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren;, and two great-great-grandchildren. A memonal service was held April 4 at Living Faith Church in Manassas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Living Faith Church, 10238 Battleview Parkway, Manassas VA 20109; or to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 Wrest Cork St., Winchester VA 22601. Arrangements were by Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal, Va.
James A. “Jim” Brady
James A. “Jim” Brady of Amissville, VA died on April 4,2009 at Fauquier Hospital.
Jim was bom on June 22, 1941 in Virginia to the late Thurman B. and Delois Burge Brady. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Jim was a member of Rectortown United Methodist Church, a Golf Pro and superintendent at Prince William Golf Course, Greenwich and a former produce manager at Safeway. Jim in recent years worked as a painting contractor.
He is survived by his wife Sally M. Brady, his daughter Candie and her husband Matthew Settle of Rixevville. VA. Also surviving are his sister, Joyce Schollenberger of Brooksville, FL, and his brother, Thurman T. Brady of Front Royal, VA
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 13. 2009 at 11 am at Amissville United Methodist Church. Amissville, VA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Amissville United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 108, Amissville, VA 20106 or the Amissville Fire Dept. P.O. Box 147, Amissville, VA 20106.
