The 2009 Rappahannock County 4-H day camp ended with a blast June 26 as participants of the rocket workshop fired their rockets into the air as part of the camp’s grand finale.
The week was full of fun workshops including fishing, crafts, woodworking, rocketry, basket making, lab experiments, creeks and critters, performing arts, pet care, fun with Mother Nature and sports.
Campers spent each morning rotating through three workshops. The afternoons were filled with various programs including playing a giant game of capture the flag, a talent show full of singing, comedy and magic, and a carnival with face painting, a cookie walk and many fun activities involving whipped cream, donuts and lots of water.
Eighty five campers enjoyed the week, with the guidance of 25 teen counselors and nearly 20 adults who led programs, chaperoned and helped out at bus stops.
The camp is one of the most reasonable day camps costing $50 for the week. This cost includes bus service, workshops, snack, program supplies and a T-shirt. This year the camp was filled in less than two weeks.
