Out of the Attic

Avon Hall, home of Mr. and Mrs. William Carrigan of Washington, was decked in its annual red, white and blue dress in celebration of Independence Day Friday. Red, white and blue lights and balloons along with flags decorated the house and candles in paper bags illuminated the lawn and reflected in the pond. A display of fireworks was enjoyed by many people who sat on the hillside behind the courthouse to watch. (The photo and caption ran in the July 10, 1969 edition of the Rappahannock News.
