CMR Fann Show begins today

By Hilary Lewis

It’s a tradition with deep roots in the county, roots that have sustained its citizens for years. The tradition of agriculture, of cultivating the soil, producing crops, and raising livestock that has been passed down for generations. So has the tradition of gathering up those goods and heading to market, or in this day and age, the annual county fair.

Locally, the Culpeper-MadisonRappahannock Farm Show is a place for farmers to show off their work. Sometimes that work, whether it be a 1,300-pound steer or a fresh-baked blackberry pie, is sold. Other times, it’s awarded a ribbon. Whatever the case, the annual farm show combines tradition with friendly competition.
