The Inn at Little Washington has gone through some personnel changes recently, a common trend in the hospitality industry. Three weeks ago. General Manager Andrew Welch ended his six-year stay at the Inn, w ith a new face stepping in right on his heels.

Kaan Caglar, 34, born and bred in the industry, arrived in Little Washington in June from Georgia. He is enthusiastic about his position and opportunity to work with owner and world-renowned chef Patrick O’Connell. _

“Not many properties have the right people in it and I think this property for one, has Patrick O’Connell. It is successful because of his personality and creativity, and his team. You need to have a unique team," said Caglar. “Secondly, the food. You need to have delicious food.”

Born in Istanbul Turkey, Caglar was first introduced to the hospitality industry by his parents who owned and operated a resort on the Mediterranean Coast.

“My dad started me in the stewarding department washing dishes for two years. At that time it was hard for me to understand,” said Caglar. “Now I know I have worked in almost every single department in the hotel My father was a smart man and a great teacher. It was all planned He was making sure that I was getting ready for my career."

After working for his parents, Caglar got an offer from Intercontinental Hotels in Illinois 10 years ago and began working at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Springfield He gained managerial experience there, and shortly after moved to the Ritz Carlton Grand in Naples, Fla.
