This is an (imagined?! personal tragedy. Multiply by millions and our entire country faces financial ruin. An exaggeration? The people who contributed to “I. 0. U. S. A ” (Alice Rivlin, Warren Buffett, Paul Volcker, Robert Rubin and others) agree that . . by 2040 the government will be spending twice as much as it takes in ... in 2052 spending will outpace tax revenues by more than three to one. . . .

“Failing to recognize the fiscal crisis represented by falling savings rates and rising deficits . . is tantamount to throwing in the towel and leaving them four children and grandchildrenl to clean up a doozy of a fiscal mess.”

That was w ritten before the spending proposed by the new administration, adding trillions in deficits and debt to jump start the economy, re-do medical care, and fight global warming (an expensive, totally needless project, given the world has cooled for the past 11 years. >
