Named “Miss Rappahannock Rose" in Friday night's woman - less beauty contest held at the local elementary school was Larry Connors of Woodville. He was judged the prettiest lady. The beauty contest and associated program was sponsored for the benefit of the Sperryville Rescue Squad Fund and proceeds totaled $275 The group expressed appreciation for the support and attendance of all.
Ste ve DeMent who resides in Sperryville, has been accepted for admission and training as a professional pilot at the Aerospace. Technical Institute, Melbourne, Florida an affiliate of Florida Institute of Technology’ He was graduated in June from Rappahannock County High School. Mr DeMent will commence his training in late September and will combine regular college study with pilot training for the Federal Aviation Administration license for Commercial Pilot.
Four county Boy Scouts and one scouter successfully completed the Ordeal of the Order of the Arrow at Camp Rock Enon this past week-end They were Bill Kilby and Bill Stokes of Sperryville, and Bobby Titchenell of Woodville, all members of Scout Troop 65; Andy Nichols of Troop 36 of Flint Hill, and the Reverend Charles Kindred, Scoutmaster of troop 50 of Amissville The Reverend B. Titchenell of Woodville received the Brotherhood membership of the Order at the same time.
