Rappahannock County’s largest landholder is considering selling off 2,000 acres.
This comes at a time when real estate listings and sales are up significantly over last year, while median prices have dropped, according to an industry analysis.
Lane Industries, owner of Eldon Farms in Woodville. is preparing to place 2,000 acres of the 7,600 acre-farm on the real estate market, according to local real estate agents and a top county official. The last assessment (2006) valued the properties on Eldon Farms at over $40 million.
Overall, local real estate agents confirm that sales and listing are up dramatically over this time last year. “Our business is doing great," said Cheri Woodard of Cheri and Martin Woodard Realtors in Sperrvville.
