Take courage, all ye who run afoul of Mr. Webster. The great lexicographer and thee may not always coincide, but let that fact worry thee not a whit. One of our Rappahannock citizens says he solved the problems of spelling long ago. He avers that his way of spelling is just as good as Mr. Webster’s, and that he also has an equal right to decide how he shall spell. Therefore, he still pens “agrikulshur kermitty.” The spelling gepius is a bridge-builder and ’tis understood he is more orthodox in bis building principles than in his adherence to the rules laid down by Webster.
Carrier Named Advisor
Lyman Carrier, of Blacksburg, has been appointed conservation consultant of the Virginia Division, Izaak Walton League of America, by action of the Division Board of Directors, it is announced by Cecil F. DeLaBarre, state secretar of the League.
Mr. Carrier, nationally known authority on soil and water conservation, was chief agronomist of the U. S. Soil Conservation Service in 1934-3$, returning to Virginia as State Conservationist from 1935 to 1947. His duties mi consultant will include advising I on soil, water, forest, wildlife.
