The farm equipment dealers, nationally and locally are doing: an excellent job in educational work on soil conservation. Bernard Inskeep, Rapidan, large dairy farmer has established an open ditch drainage system on 25 acres of potentially excellent pasture land. The land will be seeded to Orchard Grass and Ladino Clover to provide a lush high protein pasture that is convenient to the dairy barn.
Many farmers have taken advantage of the pasture improvement program under the Agricultural Conservation Program in Culpeper a in d Rappahannock counties. Soil Conservation Service technicians are assisting the farmers in locating sites for the pasture seeding in order to get correct land use as well as assisting them in arriving at the proper applications of lime, fertilizer and seed.
The supervisors of the Culpeper Soil Conservation District are interested in Culpeper and Rappahannock counties developing more good pastures for the rapidly increasing herds of beef and dairy cattle.
