The large group of farmers attending the John Deere Day exercises at the Pitts Theatre, last week, were privileged to see an excellent short film on the Soil Conservation District Program. The picture portrayed a typical American family and their relationship with the Soil Conservation District. Farmer Gordon, being one of the “old school,” was quite indifferent toward conservation farming, in the beginning. After several years of continuous effort on the part of members of his family and neighbors as well as1 the local soil conservationist, he reluctantly agreed to develop a complete farm plan and establish the recommended soil and water conservation practices.
