Yields from Bond-derived oat varieties on' the average were 20 per cent lower in 1949 than the average yields of the same varieties during the five preceding years at nurseries located from New York to Montana and from the Canadian border to Kansas, Kentucky, and Virginia.
The varieties deriv'ed from Bond are grown extensively throughout this area and were largely lesponsible for the high per-acre oat yield in 1948. They have generally replaced the Victoria-derived varieties that fe\l prey to another oat disease, Victoria or Helminthosporium blight, in 1946.
