Meat House Robbed At
Huntly Last Week
The meat house of Daniel Williams of Huntly, was broken into and robbed of four hams on both Wednesday and Friday nights, March 22 and 24, by Joseph R. Pendleton, colored, who was apprehended on Saturday night by Sheriff J. M. Lillard.
Four hams weighing approximately 35 pounds each were taken during the raids, two hams disappearing from the meat house each night.
Pendleton was tracked down by marks which were left in the field near the meat house, and the hams which he sold at Alvan Stokes in Front' Royal, were identified as those belonging to Mr. Williams. » A preliminary hearing was waived and the case was sent on to the grand jury. Bond was set at $1500.
