As yard-* goods counters blossom with summer fabrics, home sewers will welcome some of her suggestions.
Miss Smith recommends crewel needles, especially if you have trouble threading them. The eyes are larger and the needle itself is slender. Size 10 needles are b^pt for fine sewing and moat light summer fabrics.
Dressmaker pins size 16 are the slim kind that do not make holes in materials. Be sure pins are clean. If they’re rusty or dirty, better discard them and buy new ones, the specialist counsels.
A seam guide for the sewing machine is more help than most women realize. It’s a small attachment that screws in place beside the needle and keeps teams an even distance from the edge. For good sewing it’s really a “must”
