Trial Justice Cases
Cases heard by Trial Justice B. M. Miller Monday included:
Commonwealth vs. Joseph gain Townley, speeding; fined $5 and costs. Arrested by State Trooper Harris.
Joseph R. Pendleton waived preliminary hearing for breaking and entering and larceny.
The case of Monroe Kelly Atkins set for Thursday' afternoon, March 30, for attempting to intimidate and impede Lt. Blythe, state police officer, in the lawful discharge of his duties. This case originally was set for March 10, Lt. Blythe was sick at that time.
Will Starks, arrested by Sheriff Lillard on March 22 for being drunk on a public highway; case was continued generally.
Census Enumerators
Begin Count April 1
The census enumerators for Rappahannock county will complete their training course tomorrow morning. They will do a small amount of practice work this afternoon, so a few citizens will get themselves set down in Uncle Sam’s record early in the season.
The real work of census-taking will begin Monday, although Saturday, April 1, is the official day of the opening._
Enumerators are: Mrs. Mary Krause, Wakefield district; Mrs. Kathleen Flythe, Wakefield district; Charles Corder, Wakefield district; Mrs. Sarah Jenkins, Jackson district; Mrs. Dora Updike, Hampton district; Robert C. Clater, Piedmont district; and Harry Spicer, Stonewall dstrict.

Miss Louella Estes
Miss Louella Estes, known to her friends as “Miss Bessie” died Tuesday morning. March 21, at her home near Washington, after having been in declining health for the past year. She was the daughter of the late Dev Settle and Reuben Estes, and was 09 years of age.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Washington Baptist church with the pastor, Rev. M. E. Sliger of Flint Hill, officiating. Interment was in the family section of the Masonic Cemetery at Washington.
