Laura Litten, Doris Pritchett, Annie Gough and Juanita Weaver are absent from our class because of sickness. Three pupils from o»ur class went to the dentist last week. They are Bobby Carter, Lois Racer, and Doris Pritchett. This makes Bobbie Carter a five pointer.
We have been writing essays in English, studying different parts of the world in Geography. We are having review work in math and in science we are studying bacteria and germs.
It is probable that the class will attend a court trial. The eighth grade girls plan to organize a soft ball team. On Monday C. G. Reid, Jr., gave us an excellent talk on South America.
“Don’t Read This”
As spring fever tears through the halls of W.H.S., it takes its toll of students. ^
Since ‘yours truly* was among its first casualties, I am in no condition- to compose an editorial. . . Pondering. . . — Lem me see—What -to- writer on . . . Ah! I’ve got it: “Spring’’ . . . No,‘ forgot, that was last week’s subject. . .
Well, here goes:
One day you’re going to make a startling discovery for you’re going to find out or, rather, realize that all your life you’re going to have to live with yourself.
If thus far you’ve lived on the surface, everything you’ve done has been mere actions or words to impress others. You’re due for an abrupt awakening.
However, remember the past has past, your future is before you. Begin now and think of how you. can make yourself a better person to live with. Figure out what you’re actually interested in and then cultivate these interests. Understand your ambition and aims.
As you progress in this seif study, .-elf-respect, not self-love, will become prominent and will guide you in choosing your way.
This project of delving into your soi. 1 is not a selfish one for it is only after you have set your own house in order that you may undertake to set other’s in order. It is only through understanding yourself that you can understand others.
