John Wiliam Jenkins
John William Jenkina, 80, a native of Sperryville, died at the University hospital early Saturday morning, January 0, after an illness of several days.
Funeral services were held from the Sperryville Methodist church • on 6unday afternoon, with his pastor, Rev. N. J. Flythe, conduct* ing the services, with special music rendered by ,the church i choir.
Interment was in the Sperry* ville cemetery hy the side of his t late wife, Soucillah E. Jenkins, whose death occurred in March 1944.
Surviving are- his five daughters, Mrs. Charlie Frazier, with whom he has been making his home since the death of his wife; Mrs. George Woodward, of Culpeper; Mrs. L. E. Luber, of Front Royal J Mrs. James Clatterbuck and Mrs., Elizabeth (Huff, of Sperryville. Two sons, Jesse Jen* kins, of Front Royal, and Denton Jenkins, of Marshall. Two brothers, James Jenkins, of Berea, and Frank, of Sperryville, 82 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren also survive.
The active pallbearers, who were grandsons, were Floyd Clatterbuclc, Russell Woodward, Billie Luber, J. B. Hutt, John L. Jenkins, Jr., and Clifton Jenkins.
Among the-many neighborhood friends selected as honorary pallbearers and carrying the beautiful floral tributes were Silas Miller, Cary Stout, Herbert Leake, Jamea Atkins, Edward Estes, Eugene Wood, Bradley Atkins, Ralph Atkins, James Smith, Willie Jenkins, Ned Woodward, Hubert Woodard, Chris Schaefer, Jake Woodward, Luther Brown, Clinton Clater, B. R. Miller, John W. Dodson, Tom Leake, Luther E. Jenkins, J. Wade Jenkins, Dick Atkins, Buck Brown, C. R. Woodard, Raymond Woodard, Walter Rector and Harry Treseott.
Meeting Next Thursday
For State Music Camp
A meeting has been set for the county for next Thursday, January 18, at Sperryville school audi- torium, at 7:30, for a discussion of the location of the Virginia Orchestra summer camp in Rappahannock.
William Hanker, conductor of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, will be present, and the purpose .of the meeting is to asquaint the, people .of the county *ith the part they are to have in locating the summer camp in the county.7
Everyone in the county, who is interested in seeing this music camp located in Rappahannock, is invited to be present at this meeting Thursday, January 18.
Plana will be made at this meet' ing, and there will be diacussions of what must be done to be ready for the camp this summer.' t
