Not content with that they turned their attention to the welfare and safety of Sperryville itself. They drove around in a car and with a small gun shot out the street lights, putting the town in darkness. They then put the lights at the ‘hotel out of business. But that was not enough. They further jeopardized the town by shooting out the safety light in front of the, fire station. •
Even this was not enough. They sought out the only automobile in town equipped and used for emergency ambulance service . When the owner was ready to drive it out the next^ morning^ he found the air out o£ the tires, so hisi appointment in ano*her town had to be delayed, while he walked across town to borrow a hand pump and inflate his tires. Had he been on a mission of mercy, to rush a serious illness or accident to the hospital, -as he has done more than once during recent months, the patient may have died while the car owner was overcoming the delay caused by these thoughtless and near-criminal youngsters.
This is not harmless fun. It is a record of disgraceful and dangerous conduct.—Contributed
