Clarence Jackson Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Middleton Miller of “The Maples”, was born in Washington. He attended the University of Virginia, was a member and vestryman of Trinity Episcopal church for many years.
Mr. Miller was Commissioner of the ReVenue for Rappahannock county from 1835 until his death in 1929. He' married Miss Sallie Hunt Strother, the daughter of Judge and Mrs. Strother of “The Maples”, in Rappahannock.
Mr. and Mrs. Miller, with their two children, Clarence Jackson, Jr., and Louise Strother, lived at “The Maples”, which is an old plantation home, the house was erected before the Civil War, consisting of a large plat of land, a large brick house .with brick slave quarters.
Mr. Miller is survived by his two children, Clarence Jackson, Jr., who married Miss Achsah Miller Dudley of Washington, who live at “MiUermead” a part of the old home place. Louise, his daughter, married the date John W. Price of West Virginia. He was a brother of D. Lyle Miller of Rappahannock.
