Fire Destroys Barn Friday

During an electrical storm, about 11 p.m. Friday night, a large horse and hay bam on the farm of D. Lyle Miller, Jr., was destroyed by fire.
The barn, struck by lightning, ignited so quickly, according to a neighbor, that if the fire companies had been on the scene they could not have saved it.
When the two fire companies, i Jsperryville and Rappahannock, Responded to the call, they found the fire had gained so much headway it was impossible to save anything. ,
No livestock was in the barn at the time. Mr. Miller had just finished filling the bam with hay and had taken out insurance on the contents that day. In addition to the hay a large amount of harness and other articles were .destroyed.
