Miss Nellie Johnson, county chairman and Mrs. Jessie Rowzie, with the agent, attended the “Rural Institute of Affairs” held at VPI during the week of July 29 until August 2. The theme of the meeting“The Land Grant College and Its Services to the People,” was ably expressed by sufh speakers as Dr. Robert Chandler, president of University of New Hampshire, Hon. A. E. S. Shephens, Senator of Smithfield. The group attending were given at least three different section's to make a choice in attending. Miss Johnson and Mrs. Rowzie said they liked especially the speech by Judge Camelle Kelly, Judge of Juvenile and Domlsthi^Court in Memphis whose subject whs the Home, the Hub of the Civilization and the demonstration and discussion “Everyday Table Setting" given by Mrs. Irvin Wright of Roanoke. They each commented that their goal for next year was to be able to take one more lady with them to VPI.

Mrs. Wade Pullen and Mrs. Lois -Settle and the agent helped Mrs. Rowzie with second day upholstering work which included mainly of padding the chairs and putting *n white feed bag covering. The group was proud especially of padded ..back which proved to be quite a problem l>efore it was completed.
