Art Exhibits Planned
For Summer Concerts
Plans for an open air art exhibit to complement the regular August Sunday afternoon concerts at Avon Mills met with new rewards this week, according to Charles B. Wood, chairman <?f the Second Annual Blue Ridgt Music Festival. ^ Wholehearted endorsement by the Virginia Museum of. Fine Arts has resulted in an exhibit of 21 watercolor originals which will represent the Old Dominion during the five weeks of the Festival. Original art work valued as high as $200 will decorate one side of the .natural amphitheatre on the banks of the Rush River and add pre-concert art browsing to the musical programs.
Prominent Old Dominion, artists suctaas Jewett Campbell, Mrs. William R. Perkins, Jr, William Gains and Elizabeth Nottingham will be spotlighted by their watercolor originals. And such diversified subject' matter as “Chickens in Snow,” “Solar Ballet” and “Easter Egg Hunt will highlight the Virginia portiop of the open air art exhibits. The other side of the art picture, which will spotlight the work of Washington, D. C. artists, is being he&ded by George Muth, prominent District art dealer.
