The Blue Ridge Music Festival Ass'n. will present William Haaker in recital Sunday afternoon at Avon Mills, Washington. This is the first concert in a series of four to be presented at the old pre-revolutionary grist mill located on, Lee Highway 21L ----- _
Haaker, who is a product of the
the east, south and midwest in over a hundred piano recitals each year. The coming seasbn includes appearances again in Canada, having made his initial engagement there last fall. During the month' of August, Haaker is musical director of the Blue Ridge Music Workshop held6in Warrenton, and is the permanent conductor of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra.
The Sunday program, slated for 4:30 p.m. ’will include the Mozart Sonata in A Major, Andante Favori of Beethoven, two Debussy selections, Goldfish and Fireworks, a group of Chopin numbers, and Haaker’s own composition La Bamba.
Concerts have been scheduled for every Sunday afternoon in August including Tivis Wicker, baritone and Jeanne Ghalifoux, harpist on August 17, a String Quartet, August 24, and the Virginia Orchestra under the baton of William Haaker, August 31. An invitation has been extended to the Festival Association by the Voice ,of America to record the final program for re-broadcast for the American Music Culture programs in Europe.
